Membrane thickness

Liposomal drugs are typically composed of lipid bilayers. The thickness of the bilayer can be an indicator of the stability of the liposome, their composition, or their functionalization state.

Images at higher magnification using TEM allow for a direct visualization of the liposomal bilayer.

Membrane thickness analysis

Determine the bilayer thickness

At QuTEM, we offer measurements of the membrane thickness for liposomal drugs. After particle detection using high resolution TEM images, the average membrane thickness of each particle in a statistically robust dataset is measured using our proprietary software.

Examples

At QuTEM, the membrane thickness assessment is typically performed for the following particle type:

Innovative analysis

Our analysis workflow includes:

  • Particle detection and segmentation
  • Extraction of statistical data
  • Generation of a comprehensive report
